Tough Night for the Bleu Devils at Wesley Barrow
NEW ORLEANS– On a quiet night at Wesley Barrow, the Dillard University Bleu Devils faced a challenging defeat against the Loyola University Wolfpack with a final score of 8-0 in their regular season baseball game on April 1, 2025.
The Bleu Devils, led by starting pitcher Jorge Guerra, struggled to generate offense throughout the game, ultimately failing to score against their opponents. The defensive did an impressive job of keeping Loyola, who in the previous game applied the run rule in the seventh inning with a score of 10-0, from scoring.
The game remained competitive until the Wolfpack made a significant move by scoring seven runs in the 7th inning, determining the fate of the game. Key players for Loyola like Mooney, Felix, Manson, and Zeringue made substantial contributions, with Mooney, Felix, and Manson also earning runs batted in. Ultimately, the mound struggled to maintain their composure.
Loyola got their first run from Brandon Mooney who scored after Garrett Felix grounded a ball to right fielder Braylon Guerin. This caused Danik Reed, who subbed in for Guerra at the top of the fifth inning to earn the loss.
The Bleu Devils look forward to turning their fortunes around in their next outing against Southern University A&M on April 8, 2025, at Lee-Hines Field.
