The Dillard Men’s Tennis Team Wins First Match Of The Season, 7-0, Over Mississippi University for Women
New Orleans – The Dillard University men's tennis team (1-2) earned their first win of the season as the program defeated Mississippi University for Women on Saturday, Feb. 19, at XULA's Tennis Center.
"It was good to get our first wins of the season," head coach Meenakshi Sundaram proudly stated. "Great job by Kayla Hennigan today for getting her first collegiate victory. Now we have to continue to build on this and keep moving forward."
The Bleu Devils won the first double's team match as Albert Segura – Felix Hamp defeated Mikey Duncan – Sam Yarbrough of Mississippi University for Women by a 6-0 score.
The second DU double's team of Yassine Ben Jemaa – Pranav Mehta defeated Victor Gomez – Jacob Lopes 6-0.
The third double's squad of Boris Aguma – Youssef Berrajah earned the 6-0 win over Korey Scales – Zavier Minor.
In singles play, top-seed Segura earned the 6-0, 6-0 win over Duncan.
In the second-seed of singles play, Ben Jemaa won over Yarborough 6-0, 6-0.
The third singles grouping had Aguma earning the 6-0, 6-0 win over Victor Gomez.
In the fourth-seed of singles play, Hamp defeated Scales 6-0, 6-0.
The last two seeds, that featured Mehta – Vickers and Berrajah – Minor, were not played.
Next, the DU men take on the University of Mobile on Friday, Feb. 25, in the afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center following the Mobile – Loyola University New Orleans match that will be played before Dillard takes the court.
