Dillard’s Benjamin Todd Selected For the 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team
Greenwood, Indiana – Dillard's Benjamin Todd was recently selected for the 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-District ® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, the organization announced on Thursday, May 26.
Todd was one of only 41 men nationally in the NAIA to earn a selection to one of the four teams and the only Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) selection from either a men's or women's team (a total of 97 student-athletes nationally combined) to be selected. He earned his place on the NAIA – District 2 Team which includes student-athletes from the geographic region of Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
In order to be CoSIDA Academic All-District, Todd, a rising senior and public health major from Chicago, Illinois, needed to have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or above, be a sophomore or higher in academic class plus was required to have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions this season.
He helped the Dillard men's track & field program win its second consecutive GCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships this season. Individually, Todd was All-GCAC in the 4x400m relay as the team won the title with a time of 3:24.01. Todd also was All-GCAC this season in the high jump as he placed second overall (1.83m). He also placed fifth this season at the GCAC Championships in the 400m (50.92) and the 200m (23.38). Todd is currently at the 2022 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships as member of the 4x400m relay team that achieved an automatic qualifying mark of 3:15.31 at the Louisiana Classic.
Based on his selection to the First Team Academic All-District Team®, Todd now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First, Second and Third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-June.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the competition realm and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
