Stillman College Triumphs Over Dillard University in a Thrilling Softball Match
NEW ORLEANS– On March 30, 2025, Stillman College took on the Dillard University Bleu Devils in an exhilarating softball game that ended with a final score of 7-5 in favor of Stillman College. The match showcased a heated competition with both teams displaying impressive skills and determination.
The game kicked off with Stillman College taking an early lead. In the first inning, Lauren Haskins scored after L. Stone reached on an error by Dillard's left fielder, Brooklyn Baltzell. A sacrifice fly by Madison Bubel allowed Stone to score, putting Stillman ahead with a 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, Stillman extended their lead when Haskins singled on a ground ball, allowing Karli Davidson to score. Dillard managed to get on the scoreboard in the third inning with Ca'Terra Bates driving in De'Asia Davenport.
The highlight of the fourth inning was Haskins' inside-the-park home run, a spectacular play that also brought A. Erwin home and extended Stillman's lead. Another run was added when Carolyn Carter's fly out enabled Stone to score.
Stillman College scored their final run in the fifth inning when Haskins tripled, allowing Erwin to score. The Bleu Devils, however, were not ready to concede. The team rallied in the sixth inning with Morgan Williams' single, which drove in Gress, Long, and Picou, closing the gap to 7-4.
In the seventh inning, Dillard's Madison Clark managed a home run, but it was not enough to overcome Stillman's lead. The game concluded with Stillman College securing a 7-5 victory.
