Lady Bleu Devils Suffers First Loss in Conference Play
NEW ORLEANS– In a closely contested game held at Dent Hall on November 20, 2025, Paul Quinn College edged out Dillard University with a final score of 66-61. The victory improved Paul Quinn's record to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Dillard fell to 3-4 and 0-1 in conference.
The game was tightly matched from the beginning, with the first quarter ending in a 13-13 tie. Paul Quinn began to create some distance in the second and third quarters, outscoring Dillard 19-15 and 17-14, respectively. Although Dillard made a strong comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, scoring 19 points to Paul Quinn's 17, it was not enough to secure the win.
Zaire Brown was the standout player for Paul Quinn, posting an impressive double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Brown's efficient performance, shooting 8 for 13 from the field and 8 for 10 from the free-throw line, was critical in securing the victory. Cierra Taylor also contributed significantly with 12 points and 6 assists.
For Dillard, Azaria Knox led the way with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Despite Knox's efforts, including two three-pointers, Dillard struggled with their shooting accuracy, hitting just 31.7% of their field goals and 15.8% from beyond the arc.
Rebounding was a key factor in the game, with Dillard narrowly outrebounding Paul Quinn 40 to 31. D'Mya Ferguson was a force on the boards for Dillard, grabbing 14 rebounds and adding 14 points for a double-double performance.
Both teams encountered shooting woes, but Paul Quinn managed a slightly better field goal percentage at 37.7% compared to Dillard's 31.7%. Paul Quinn's ability to capitalize on free-throw opportunities, despite some misses, also contributed to their win, hitting 65.4% compared to Dillard's 78.3% from the line.
