NEW ORLEANS– In a commanding display of volleyball prowess, Dillard University swept Wiley College in straight sets during their matchup on The Battlefield. The game, commencing at 11:00 AM, showcased Dillard's dominance on both offense and defense, culminating in a 3-0 victory with set scores of 25-15, 25-12, and 25-18.
Dillard, improving their season to a 5-3 record and 2-0 in conference play, displayed an outstanding team effort with a hitting percentage of .271. The team executed an efficient attack, led by stellar performances from Khara Morton and Sienna Adigun. Morton impressed with a hitting percentage of .636, contributing eight kills, while Adigun was nearly flawless with a .875 hitting percentage and seven kills.
The Bleu Devils' setter, Ajanae Chatham, orchestrated the offense with precision, amassing 24 assists, while Kadence Busby added four service aces, contributing significantly to Dillard's six total aces in the match. Trenity Pender also had a notable impact with three assists and one ace. On defense, Dillard's blocking game was on point, with 12 block assists, primarily led by Cadence Thomas and Sienna Adigun.
In contrast, Wiley College struggled to find their rhythm, falling to a 2-3 record and 1-1 in conference play. Wiley's attacking efforts were hindered by a mere .035 hitting percentage, with Jae Jemmott leading the team with seven kills but also committing six errors.
