Lady Bleu Devils Fall in Opening Round , Ending their Season
ST. LOUIS– November 22, 2025 – In an electrifying showdown at the Petty SRC, Missouri Baptist asserted their dominance over Dillard (LA) with a convincing three-set victory (25-20, 25-21, 25-18). The win bolstered Missouri Baptist's record to 30-5 overall and 17-1 in conference play, while Dillard fell to 18-9 overall and 11-1 in conference.
Missouri Baptist showcased a robust offensive performance, led by Gabi Jakubowska, who delivered a stellar 20 kills on 38 attempts, finishing with a .395 hitting percentage. Fernanda Perini was equally impressive with 12 kills and a remarkable .647 attack percentage. The team's overall hitting percentage stood at an impressive .330, highlighting their efficiency at the net.
Valentina Navarro orchestrated Missouri Baptist's offensive plays with precision, contributing 35 assists. Despite four serving errors, the team outperformed Dillard in the serving department with four aces, two of which were credited to Tiia Heikkinen.
Defensively, Missouri Baptist's blocking game was formidable, racking up 25 block assists. Perini's seven block assists and Summer McDonough's four were pivotal in stifling Dillard's attack, which struggled to find consistency throughout the match.
Dillard's efforts were spearheaded by Cadence Thomas, who managed six kills, and Gabrielle Washington, who added eight kills. However, the team struggled overall with a .092 hitting percentage, hindered by a high error rate, especially in the second set where they posted a negative hitting percentage of -.029.
Despite a commendable defensive effort from Trenity Pender, who recorded nine digs, and Kristian Thomas with eight, Dillard's defense could not contain Missouri Baptist's offensive onslaught.
Nonetheless, the lady Bleu Devils are now two time conference champions, something the program has not accomplished in years, and will be looking to defend and maintain their title going into next season.
